In Memoriam: Corazon Aquino

Today, we bid farewell to our Former President Corazon Aquino, the Mother of Philippine Democracy.

Pres. Corazon Aquino (1933-2009)

Pres. Corazon Aquino (1933-2009)

Education has taught me well that this amazing person single-handedly sparked the then slumbering nationalism of our countrymen, and brought down a dark regime and ushered in a new era full of hope, freedom and promise.

The past 72-hours has been a very emotional time for our family. Untold stories from close friends, family and acquaintances dear to Tita Cory did not help in my struggle to hold back tears from streaming from my eyes. The late President was presented under a new light: a loving mother, a God-fearing individual, a caring friend, and a steadfast housewife who upholded her beliefs amidst the numerous coup attempts and natural disasters that literally rocked and tested her administration. She did not even falter.

And even beyond the grave, she taught us to love and appreciate our mothers more than ever.

For being the mother of our nation;

the avatar of hope;

and the emissary of God.

Thank you and farewell…
